This release continues our focus on reducing manual work and improving visibility for MSPs managing multi-tenant Microsoft 365 and Intune environments. The new Compare Configurations feature of Tenant Management introduces a powerful way to identify mismatches, missing settings, and differences between tenant configurations and configuration properties with clear visual indicators and JSON-level insights.

What’s new

Compare Configurations: Instant insight into tenant differences

Compare Configurations view with selected source and target tenants ready for analysis.

The new Compare Configurations feature under Tenant Management provides administrators with a dedicated workspace to compare tenant configuration data between tenants. It highlights where configurations match, differ, or are missing altogether and helps MSPs maintain consistent, compliant customer environments.

Each comparison result row is tenant-specific, with sorting by tenant name by default. Columns can be filtered or sorted for a more targeted view of differences like comparing a certain setting between multiple tenants.

Here are some highlights:

  • Dedicated menu item: Compare Configurations is now directly accessible under Tenant Management.

  • Quick tenant selection: Works just like other Tenant Management features (Create, Update, Backup and Restore), ensuring a familiar flow.

  • Full comparison: The Compare action verifies if configurations exist in target tenants and compares property values automatically.

  • Filter and sort results: Easily sort or narrow the view to focus on differences or view all configurations for a full overview.

  • Color-coded indicators:

    • 🟢 Green (OK):
Configuration exists and matches in that tenant.

    • 🟡 Yellow (Check):
Configuration exists but contains differing property values.

    • 🔴 Red (Missing):
Configuration does not exist in that tenant.

  • JSON: Switch between metadata and raw JSON to inspect configuration content line by line. Only differing or missing content is highlighted while matching values remain unmarked for faster review.
  • Detail-level comparison: Differences are highlighted for quick identification and can be reviewed in either Standard or Complete view modes for deeper insight.
OK, Check, and Missing indicators show configuration status per tenant.

Workflow and usability improvements

Beyond comparison, this release brings several usability refinements to Tenant Management:

  • See the image above. When hovering over configuration assignments in Create configurations, a tooltip now shows an assignment count and lists which assignments are included (intent | group name).

  • Improved consistency across all Create configurations operations for smoother workflows.

  • UI logic improvements enhance reliability and reduce error risk.

  • Backend enhancements improve automation, scalability, and error handling across the suite.

  • Updated instructions for the Tenant Management details can be found in the Plentics Suite Wiki (Tenant Management – User guide).

Why this matters for MSPs

Preventing configuration drift

Configuration drift happens when tenants settings slowly diverge and can lead to inconsistent compliance and added troubleshooting. The Compare Configurations feature lets MSPs quickly detect and correct these mismatches by comparing each tenant against a standard baseline or another tenant, highlighting missing or differing settings instantly.

Streamlining new customer onboarding

The same comparison logic also simplifies onboarding of new customer tenants. By comparing an incoming tenant’s configurations against your baseline, MSPs can instantly see what aligns and what requires adjustment. This clarity helps guide conversations with the customer and enables your technical team to deliver faster, more consistent onboarding and implementation.

Plentics Suite strengthens multi-tenant visibility and control, which is critical for MSPs operating at scale. The new Compare Configurations feature eliminates tedious manual comparison tasks, speeds up audits, and boosts quality assurance with precise, visual insights.

Key benefits

  • Save time: Eliminate hours of manual configuration checks.

  • Consistency: Keep customer environments aligned across all tenants.

  • Faster troubleshooting: Identify and resolve discrepancies quickly.

  • Transparency: Prove configuration compliance with traceable visual records.
